A recently released study revealed that cases of suicide continue to rise, from 2005 to 2007. The study involved the entire active U.S military population, which numbered 2,064,183 in 2005 and 1,981,810 in 2007. Suicide rates for all services increased, and it actually exceeded the numbers of soldiers killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A new research study shows a noticeable decrease of suicide rates across England and Wales after new suicide recommendation rules are adopted. Suicide rates in UK are high, particularly among males aged 15 to 24 years of age. In 2009 alone, there were 4,390 cases in England and 258 in Wales. Suicide is pointed as the most common cause of death among men less than 35 years of age and the main cause of premature death among people with mental illness.

A study says that psychotherapy may prove helpful for individuals with depressive personality traits to uplift mood and change general perception in life. The study is a part of the thesis made by a psychologist in Lund University in Sweden. The study focused on the question why some cases of depression do not respond to today’s treatments.
